Concord, California is the largest city in Contra Costa County and one of the largest cities in the East Bay. It’s located about 29 miles east of San Francisco, but with easy BART access, commuters find Concord an easy place to live, and possibly save a little money.

Unlike much of the Bay Area, Concord is completely landlocked. They are several miles from the East Bay and even further from the Pacific Ocean. Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek, Pittsburg and Clayton surround it.

Shoppers enjoy what used to be one of the largest malls in the country, Sunvalley Mall. Concord’s farmer’s market is famous throughout the Bay Area, with free concerts, a large selection of vendors and several restaurants nearby.

At just below $500,000, the average price of real estate in Concord is a bit more affordable than much of the Bay Area, which averages over $600,000.
