Even more significant, though, is the weather. The Farmers’ Almanac ranks San Diego’s weather as among the top 10. We would argue that it’s the best in the nation. It rarely rains in San Diego. While it can get hot in the summer, most days are in the high 60s to low 70s.
San Diego is a military city. It’s home to the largest naval fleet in the world. One in 20 of those employed in San Diego County works in the defense industry. There are Navy bases, Marine bases and Coast Guard stations. There are also several defense contractors.
San Diego is home to several major wireless carriers. Qualcomm was founded there. Nokia, LG Electronics, Kyocera, Cricket Communications, and Novatel Wireless are all headquartered there.
